Committee Expands Resources and Staff
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Representative Barry Loudermilk announced that the investigation into the events of January 6 is entering a new phase. Loudermilk revealed that the Speaker has committed additional resources, tripling the size of the staff dedicated to the investigation.
Seeking the Truth
Loudermilk emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth behind what happened on January 6. He stated that the committee is focused on understanding how individuals were able to breach the Capitol and what security failures contributed to the event. Additionally, the panel is investigating the actions of the previous Select Committee and their handling of the investigation.
“My main goal is to get the truth out there and give the American people the ability to make their own determination on this with facts,” Loudermilk said. He criticized the previous committee for cherry-picking evidence and excluding information that did not support their narrative.
A Major Election Issue
The events of January 6 have become a prominent topic in the 2024 presidential election cycle. Former President Trump has been charged as a result of investigations, and some states are attempting to use the 14th amendment to remove him from state ballots. President Biden has also made Jan. 6 a focal point of his campaign, accusing Trump of being a threat to democracy.
Examining Security Failure
Loudermilk highlighted the importance of investigating the security failure that allowed individuals to enter the Capitol. He expressed concern over intelligence that indicated an attack was imminent but was not passed on to the necessary authorities. The committee is also looking into the presence of federal agents within the crowd on that day.
Challenges with Previous Committee
Loudermilk criticized the previous House Select Committee on Jan. 6 for its handling of the investigation. He stated that evidence was manipulated, cherry-picked, and even edited in some cases. The committee’s documents and videos were not provided in their entirety, hindering the current investigation.
Commitment to Unbiased Approach
Loudermilk assured the American people that the current investigation is being conducted in a non-biased manner. He emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth and providing the public with accurate information about the events of January 6.
