Social media users and commentators express outrage over Pelosi’s comments
In a recent interview with CNN, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi faced heavy criticism for her remarks on a group of women protesters who have been demonstrating for peace outside her house for the past 17 years. Pelosi’s comments sparked a firestorm on social media, with many accusing her of hypocrisy and insensitivity.
Pelosi accused of being a “foreign agent” by online critics
Critics, including Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, took to social media to denounce Pelosi’s comments. Rugg went so far as to claim that Pelosi has “lost it.” Jonathan Turley, a constitutional law professor and Fox News contributor, compared Pelosi to infamous anti-communist figure Joe McCarthy, suggesting that she had gone too far in her remarks. GOP operative Steve Guest pointed out the double standard, questioning what the reaction would be if a Republican had made similar statements.
Pelosi suggests protesters are tied to foreign influences
During the interview, Pelosi insinuated that the women protesters were connected to Russia, stating, “But for them to call for a cease-fire is Mr. Putin’s message, Mr. Putin’s message.” She further added that she believed some of the protesters were “connected to Russia” and that her view was based on her extensive research.
Code Pink denies allegations made by Pelosi
Pelosi’s remarks drew a response from anti-war organization Code Pink, which has been associated with the protest outside her house. Code Pink spokesperson Melissa Garriga strongly refuted Pelosi’s claims, stating that the accusation of being “Chinese propaganda” was baseless and intended to undermine their legitimacy as an anti-war organization. Garriga emphasized that Americans are tired of foreign wars and imperialism, urging both Democrats and Republicans to end the funding of conflicts and the occupation of Palestine.
Pelosi’s office remains silent on the issue
When reached out for comment on the video, Pelosi’s office did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request. The controversy surrounding Pelosi’s remarks continues to generate debate and discussion online.
