Expanding Healthcare Coverage
California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a new initiative to provide health care coverage to an additional 764,000 illegal immigrants on top of the 1.1 million already in the Medi-Cal system. This move will allow undocumented individuals to receive medical services at the expense of California taxpayers. The expansion includes coverage for hormone and sex-change surgeries, further increasing the burden on the state’s general fund.
Education and Financial Aid
In addition to healthcare benefits, illegal immigrants in California can also enjoy other taxpayer-funded perks. They are eligible for in-state tuition at state schools and can apply for financial aid. This means that tax dollars are being allocated to support the education of those who are in the country illegally.
Food Assistance and Cash Benefits
California’s CalFresh program, which provides federally funded food assistance, has expanded its eligibility requirements to include illegal immigrants aged 55 and over. This means that tax dollars are being used to provide food benefits to individuals who are not legally entitled to be in the country. Furthermore, California has a state-funded program called Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI), which provides monthly cash benefits to non-citizens who are ineligible for other forms of government support solely due to their immigration status.
Recent Incident Raises Concerns
A recent incident in New York City involving four migrants who allegedly attacked two police officers near Times Square has raised concerns about the potential consequences of such lenient policies. The individuals, identified as Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, Kelvin Servita Arocha, Wilson Juarez, and Yorman Reveron, were caught and released. Authorities believe they fled to California, using fake names to secure transportation. This incident highlights the need for stricter immigration policies and enforcement.
