RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel Blames Biden for Unaffordable Christmas
“This holiday season, Bidenomics has made everything from Christmas trees to gifts unaffordable for middle-class families,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told Fox News Digital. “While Americans struggle to stay afloat, we’re reminding them who the real Grinch is this Christmas: Joe Biden.”
Rising Costs: Christmas Trees and Gifts
According to the American Christmas Tree Association, the price of a Christmas tree has gone up 10% from last year. The average cost now ranges from $80 to $100. Middle-class families are feeling the pinch as they try to deck their halls.
Inflation Takes a Toll on Gift-Giving
A November 2023 survey revealed that over 30% of Americans plan to forgo buying gifts this year due to inflation. The video released by the RNC highlights this alarming statistic. Additionally, a quarter of respondents admitted that they still have holiday debt from last year’s season.
“Food costs are up 20% on a two-year basis… 42% expect to pay more for holiday gifts due to inflation,” warns the video’s voiceovers. “You’re buying less apparel, fewer items for your home, fewer toys… More than one in three Americans are talking about skipping gifts altogether because of inflation.”
The Rising Price of Tradition
PNC Bank has analyzed the cost of the “12 Days of Christmas,” a beloved holiday tradition. Their findings reveal that the price of these famous items has also increased. Based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it would now cost $46,729.86 to bring each line of the famous Christmas carol to life – a 2.7% increase from last year. Although this is significant, it is still less than the 10.5% price hike calculated between 2021 and 2022.
The burden of rising prices falls heavily on the shoulders of middle-class families during this holiday season. As they struggle to make ends meet, the impact of Bidenomics on their ability to celebrate Christmas is becoming increasingly apparent.
