Accusations and Resignation
Vince McMahon, the executive chair of TKO Group Holdings, has resigned following a bombshell lawsuit accusing him of sexual abuse and sex trafficking. The lawsuit, which shook the industry, prompted McMahon to step down from his position. The allegations were made public, causing shockwaves throughout the organization.
Reaction of Former Colleague
In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, one of McMahon’s former colleagues, Smith, revealed his reaction to the lawsuit. Smith admitted to getting upset as he began reading the complaint. “Silence is golden, and duct tape is silver,” he said. “I read a little bit, maybe a sentence or two of it and … my phone, I just threw it like a Frisbee and picked up one of my books.” Smith explained that he preferred to focus on reading books rather than paying attention to online content.
McMahon’s Denial and Departure
McMahon, who had been associated with WWE since 1982, vehemently denied the allegations and maintained his innocence. In a statement, he said, “I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth.” Despite his denial, McMahon made the decision to resign from his executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately. He expressed his intention to vigorously defend himself against the baseless accusations and clear his name.
Acknowledging the WWE Universe
While stepping down, McMahon expressed his respect for the WWE Universe, the TKO business, and its board members, shareholders, partners, constituents, as well as all the employees and superstars who have contributed to making WWE a global leader in the industry. Though his resignation was a difficult choice, McMahon prioritized the best interests of the organization and its stakeholders.
