Kane Seeks Respect in Match Against Matt Cardona
Thursday night will see Kane face off against the “Indy God” Matt Cardona at the “One Shot” event in New York City. This match is expected to be one of Kane’s toughest challenges yet. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Kane emphasized his desire for respect in the wrestling industry.
“It would mean a whole lot more if he actually took me seriously,” Kane stated when asked about facing a veteran like Cardona. “He’s not taking it seriously. He thinks it’s going to be a walk in the park, like a quick payday. That’s really, really bugging me.”
Kane’s Thoughts on Matt Cardona
Kane expressed familiarity with Cardona’s career, mentioning his time with the Edgeheads and Zack Ryder. However, he made it clear that he was not a huge fan of Ryder. Kane believes that someone with Cardona’s success should not underestimate him.
The pay-per-view event, taking place at Melrose Ballroom in Queens, will start at 7 p.m. and can be watched on FITE TV.
Kane’s Push for Representation in Pro Wrestling
Aside from being the MLW World Heavyweight Champion, Kane is also passionate about providing opportunities for wrestlers who look like him.
“It’s huge,” Kane expressed when discussing his efforts to increase Black representation in pro wrestling. “Over the last 5 or 10 years, the representation of Black wrestlers has grown, but there’s still work to do. To be a part of that work in the position I’m in, you can’t ask for much more.”
Kane believes that MLW, one of the up-and-coming wrestling promotions in the U.S., offers a unique experience for fans. He described MLW as having an old school feel with a touch of new blood, making it stand out from other platforms.
“MLW is giving you all the flavor you need for professional wrestling, and it’s just good stuff,” Kane concluded.
