Social Media Erupts as Dez Bryant Stirs Controversy
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is facing criticism and outrage after making controversial remarks about women and their role in discussing football.
Following the Cowboys’ narrow defeat against the Miami Dolphins, Bryant took to social media to express his frustration. In response to a comment from a user named “Laura,” who accused Bryant of creating drama because his team lost, the wide receiver fired back, saying, “I said something gotta be up And Yea ok… Btw I personally don’t like talking football with Certain! women because they don’t know their role in talking a man’s game. I’ll never tell you how to put on a skirt.”
Outcry Over Sexist Remarks
Bryant’s remarks instantly triggered a wave of outrage on social media, with many labeling him as sexist. However, the three-time Pro Bowler refused to back down and defended his stance throughout the night. “I will clearly talk to a woman who knows the game, but I will not even waste my time talking to a woman who doesn’t know anything about it,” he wrote. “Anybody who has a problem with what I said, unfollow me please. I don’t like all that sensitive s—. Get out of my mentions.”
Even in a video, Bryant reiterated his position, stating, “I, Dez Bryant, do not like talking football with certain women. What is it that y’all don’t understand? It is what it is. That’s just my opinion. That’s me. That’s how I feel. I stand on it.”
Dez Bryant Defends His Dedication to the Game
Responding to further criticism, Bryant added, “No woman or man who doesn’t know much about the game will ever tell me how to run a 3-step slant vs man or zone or a bang 8 vs man or zone without spending quality years towards the game. Let alone understand the importance of team chemistry.”
He emphasized that his analysis of coaches, players, and teams is different from most, attributing it to his lifelong dedication to the sport. Bryant clarified that his comments were directed at one woman who he believed spoke out of place, and not towards women who have knowledge and understanding of football.
Athletes and Fantasy Sports
Bryant also addressed his involvement in the fantasy sports world, stating that only a handful of athletes acknowledge fantasy sports, and he aims to bridge the gap between athletes and fans engaged in this realm. He criticized those who exploit the situation for personal gain, stating, “For a lot of you in this fantasy space who are trying to gain clout, it is sickening.”
As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether Bryant’s remarks will have any lasting consequences on his reputation or future interactions with fans and the media.
