Tempers Flare on the Court
Milwaukee Bucks star, Giannis Antetokounmpo, found himself in a heated exchange of words with a Pacers player during a recent game. As tensions escalated, the confrontation spilled over into the hallway outside the locker rooms. The dispute? The game ball.
Confusion Over the Ball
According to Pacers coach, Rick Carlisle, the ball in question was taken by the Pacers to celebrate Oscar Tshiebwe’s first point. However, Antetokounmpo wanted the ball as a memento of his exceptional performance. After the altercation, confusion still remained as to who had possession of the game ball.
Antetokounmpo’s Uncertainty
Antetokounmpo expressed uncertainty about the ball he currently possessed. In his own words, “It doesn’t feel like the game ball to me. It feels like a brand new ball.” The Bucks player questioned whether the ball he had was indeed the game ball and stated that he would give it to his mother regardless.
Unfortunate Incident
Pacers coach Carlisle addressed the incident, acknowledging the misunderstanding about the game ball. He emphasized that the franchise was not focused on Antetokounmpo’s record-setting performance. Carlisle expressed regret over the escalation and the ensuing hallway commotion. While no punches were thrown, the general manager of the Pacers ended up with a bruised rib after being elbowed by one of the Bucks players.
Lessons Learned
Carlisle concluded by stating that the official game ball was not necessary and that there were two available. He expressed disappointment that the situation had escalated to its current state, deeming it “really unfortunate.”
