RSV Infection Leads to Hospitalization
A couple has reached out to their friends and followers on Instagram, seeking prayers for their newborn daughter who is currently battling respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The couple shared a heartfelt caption alongside a photo of their daughter, Lucy, lying in a hospital bed and connected to medical machines.
According to the Mayo Clinic, RSV is a common viral infection that affects the lungs and respiratory tract. Most children have been infected with the virus by the age of 2. While healthy adults and infants usually do not require hospitalization, older adults and infants under 6 months old may need to be hospitalized if they experience difficulty breathing or dehydration.
Lucy’s Condition Takes a Turn for the Worse
The couple revealed that Lucy’s health deteriorated after being admitted to the hospital. She was moved to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) due to a partially collapsed right lung. The parents expressed their disbelief and asked for prayers for Lucy’s miraculous healing.
A Ray of Hope: Improved Lung Condition
Despite the initial setback, there is some positive news. Kaitlin, the mother, updated her Instagram followers, sharing that Lucy’s lung condition has significantly improved compared to the first night in the hospital. She even posted a heartwarming picture of herself holding Lucy in her arms once again.
A Journey Filled with Struggles
Jordi and Kaitlin, who had previously experienced two miscarriages, had announced the birth of their daughter on January 6. They expressed gratitude for the support they received from friends and family, acknowledging that the prayers and well wishes played a crucial role in their journey.
As Lucy continues her fight against RSV, the couple hopes for a swift recovery and to have their baby girl back home, safe and sound in their arms.
