State Regulators Pave the Way for Cannabis Lounges in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS – Nevada regulators have officially approved the first license for a recreational cannabis consumption lounge, signaling a new era for the state’s cannabis industry. The license was granted to Smoke and Mirrors, a lounge owned by Thrive Cannabis Marketplace, following a recent inspection by state agents.
Lounges Galore
As the first of its kind, Smoke and Mirrors sets the stage for what is expected to be a wave of similar operations in the state. Currently, there are 19 lounges that have received conditional approval from the Cannabis Compliance Board. While these establishments await final inspections before opening to the public, the anticipation is high for a surge in cannabis lounges across the region.
A Long-Awaited Move
With Nevada voters legalizing recreational cannabis years ago, the recent approval of consumption lounges marks a significant milestone in the state’s cannabis journey. Lawmakers paved the way for these establishments in 2021, recognizing their potential for economic growth and appeal to tourists who cannot consume cannabis in traditional settings like hotels.
Thriving Hub for Creativity
Thrive Cannabis Marketplace’s Smoke and Mirrors aims to be more than just a lounge. Set to open its doors in late February, the establishment will offer a variety of products, including cannabis-infused cocktails, and serve as a platform for artists and musicians to showcase their talents. Chris LaPorte, managing partner of RESET, highlighted the lounge’s broader impact, stating, “It’s more than a venue, it’s a platform for the cannabis industry as a whole,” promising an innovative chapter in the evolution of hospitality in Las Vegas.
